Darren Moore confirms Sheffield Wednesday still sweating on player’s Sunderland availability

Sheffield Wednesday could yet be without Barry Bannan for the first-leg of their play-off semi-final with Sunderland tomorrow night. 

Bannan was forced off in the 82nd minute of last weekend’s win over Portsmouth, which secured Wednesday’s place in fourth and the League One play-offs.

However, Darren Moore has revealed to the press (@swfc) that he’s had to “look after” Bannan this week ahead of a huge clash with Sunderland.

Remaining non-committal on his selection, he revealed: “We’ll see how Baz is today, we are training later today. We have looked after him this week. This press conference is taking place before the training session so we’ll see how everything goes.”

Bannan, 32, has been instrumental for Wednesday in their surge towards the play-offs, making 45 appearances in League One.

The Scot has returned nine goals and 12 assists from midfield and is widely regarded as the man that has the potential to manoeuvre the Owls through the play-offs and back into the Championship.
