Dapo Afolayan gives Lincoln City verdict and offers secret to Bolton Wanderers recent success

Dapo Afolayan believes Bolton Wanderers are having more luck in games but are working hard to earn it in their good run of form up the League One table.

Wanderers have won seven of their last nine games in the third tier of English football and have risen up to 10th in the table with their recent good results.

Bolton take on Lincoln City this evening at the University of Bolton Stadium where they will be aiming to narrow the gap to the play-offs even further from the seven points it currently stands at.

And Afolayan believes that Wanderers are now getting the luck in matches that they deserved earlier in the season as things level themselves out over the campaign.

But the attacker believes Bolton are working hard to make that happen as winning has bred confidence in the squad, with the new players which have come in to help give the squad a much needed boost.

He said: “We always felt that earlier in the season we had performances that deserved more and football has a funny way of levelling things out so I think that is what we are seeing now. We are getting more luck now that we did.

“We are not expecting things, we are working for them. And that is a big factor in this run.

“We just focus on winning games. Winning matches brings confidence and you can see it in every player.

“Marlon, Dion have come in and lifted us, Morley, Demps, you can go through all of them. Jonno, Rico and Geth have been excellent since we switched shape and I think everyone has given themselves a kick up the arse really because we knew we were better than the position we were in.

“We had to see our true selves, really.”
