Danny Grant strikes late to earn Bohemians a point against St Pat's

Danny Grant scored a late, late equaliser to earn Bohemians a point in a frenetic Dublin derby that ebbed and flowed to the very end at Dalymount Park.

Stephen Kenny thus still awaits his first win as St Patrick's Athletic manager as his side conceded a stoppage time goal for the second week running on a night of many firsts.

Late Gypsies substitute Grant got on the end of James Akintunde’s arced cross to bounce a header past Danny Rogers two minutes into added time at the death for his first goal of the season.

There were first goals of the year also for Saints’ Chris Forrester and Cian Kavanagh both assisted by Romal Palmer on his first league start.

It didn't begin well for St Pat's, though, as they suffered a very early blow with a nasty injury to Ruairi Keating after just 12 seconds following a clash of heads with Bohemians defender Aboubacar Keita.

The striker needed over eight minutes of attention on the pitch before being taken off on a stretcher to hospital.

With Kavanagh on as Keating’s replacement, St Pat’s might have been in front from the resulting free kick on 11 minutes. Jake Mulraney’s delivery had the Bohs defence at sixes and sevens as they were grateful to see Jamie Lennon scoop his effort over the crossbar.

Despite their early setback, St Pat’s had started the better and were ahead on 28 minutes.

Bohemians again failed to effectively deal with a set-piece delivery into their area, this time from a Chris Forrester corner, with Gypsies’ winger Dylan Connolly’s clumsy challenge on Palmer conceding a penalty.

Forrester calmly sent Kacper Chorazka the wrong way from 12 yards.

Bohs responded with a bout of sustained pressure that brought a series of corners, though without troubling Danny Rogers in the Saints goal.
