Daniel Ricciardo posts video reaction after confirmation he'll leave McLaren

Daniel Ricciardo has taken to his social media channels to post a video reaction after news broke this afternoon that he would leave McLaren at the end of the season.

The Aussie had been contracted with the team until the end of 2023 but after a string of below-par results in the first part of this season, speculation grew that the team might be looking to replace him early.

Indeed, that is now going to be the case for 2023 with Oscar Piastri being tipped to join Lando Norris for next year, and it remains to be seen where Ricciardo heads, with Alpine potentially a destination for him after the exit of Fernando Alonso to Aston Martin for 2023.

It’s clear Daniel felt as though he could have still turned things around and wanted to try and stay, but ultimately the results spoke volumes and he just could not get settled in that McLaren car.

He now will be looking for a new drive and, despite the tough period at McLaren, you can be sure plenty of teams will be interested in taking him on.
