Jermaine Jenas believes that Tottenham will be able to challenge for a Premier League title in the coming seasons if Daniel Levy backs Antonio Conte in the transfer market.

Spurs are the favourites to finish in the top four this season after Arsenal lost their third consecutive Premier League game 1-0 against Southampton at the weekend. Conte's side have a three point advantage over their north London rivals and have the advantage of hosting May's North London Derby - although, the Gunners do also have a game in hand still to play.

But Jenas thinks Tottenham can expect to dream higher if the club back Conte in the upcoming transfer window: "If they give him what they want, they’ll have the ability to challenge for a league, whether that’s next year or the year after," he said live on BT Sport.

"If he gets them players in, there will be a team here who will be in and amongst it. If he doesn’t get it, there’s no chance. For Tottenham fans, there’s nothing that’s happening in the past that will make you believe he’ll get what he wants."

At the moment, however, Spurs are too frequently being inconsistent. That much was highlighted on Saturday, when they lost 1-0 to the Seagulls at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
