Daniel Cormier comments on facing Brock Lesnar years after UFC scuffle

Daniel Cormier has commented on a possible WWE match against Brock Lesnar after their UFC brawl back in 2018.

The world of mixed martial arts is a pretty strange place sometimes and in equal measure, the same can always be said for professional wrestling.

The two mirror one another more often than you might think and that includes crossover stars popping up from time to time, largely going from MMA to the squared circle – or, more specifically, UFC to WWE.

Brock Lesnar has danced with that line on many occasions with his latest appearance inside the Octagon being at UFC 200, whereas his WWE career is much more prominent, given that he was featured in the main event of SummerSlam this past July.

In 2018, though, Lesnar did flirt with the idea of another return to the cage when he popped up at UFC 226.

On that night, Daniel Cormier defeated Stipe Miocic via knockout to become the new UFC heavyweight champion, completing his ascent to champ-champ status.

Lesnar proceeded to come into the cage and interrupt DC’s celebrations, essentially challenging him to a fight for the belt.

It never quite came to fruition but with Cormier preparing for his own venture over to WWE, it should come as no surprise that he was asked about the idea during a recent interview.

“This [ref gig] is honestly very good for me because people start to talk,” Cormier said “People start talking going, ‘Oh my goodness, I remember when him and Brock were in the octagon, supposed to fight.’ So, it makes a lot of sense, but as you know, just because something makes sense, it doesn’t mean it’s going to happen. So no, there is no talk of me fighting Brock Lesnar.”
