Danes seek goal-fest through Wind and Hojlund against Slovenia

STUTTGART, Germany : Denmark manager Kasper Hjulmand selected Jonas Wind and Rasmus Hojlund in an attacking lineup in their Group C match against Slovenia on Sunday as his side seek to get their Euro 2024 campaign off to a winning start.

Hjulmand has sometimes deployed the 21-year-old Hojlund on his own up front but opted to go for goals with Wind also lining up in a 3-5-2 as Denmark, champions in 1992, are heavily favoured against their opponents who are ranked 57 in the world.

Slovenia, led by goalkeeper captain Jan Oblak, are playing in only their second European Championship and first major tournament since the 2010 World Cup.

However, they have one of the continent's most exciting young forwards in Benjamin Sesko leading the line in a 4-4-2. Coach Matjaz Kek will hope the tall but speedy 21-year-old can inspire his side to a major upset and a first ever victory over the Danes.

Denmark playmaker Christian Eriksen plays his first European Championship game since collapsing in their Euro 2020 opener against Finland.
