Dan Sheldon now drops 'serious' Southampton injury update as news emerges after Brighton

The Athletic’s Dan Sheldon has provided an update on the injury sustained by Southampton defender Tino Livramento after he was stretchered off during his team’s Premier League clash against Brighton on Sunday.

In the 37th minute of the Saints’ 2-2 draw against the Seagulls, the 19-year-old instantly signalled to the bench after going down from a seemingly agonising injury.

As a result, the former Chelsea gem was stretchered off with his leg in a brace and was eventually replaced by Romain Perraud after a lengthy stoppage.

According to Saints journalist Dan Sheldon, Livramento will undergo a scan to determine the extent of the injury.

Taking to Twitter, Sheldon claimed: ‘New: #SaintsFC defender Tino Livramento will undergo a scan on his knee tomorrow after he was stretchered off against #BHAFC. Ralph Hasenhuttl: “It looks very serious.” ‘

In his post-match interview, Hasenhuttl added (via The Athletic): “He is absolutely frustrated and that is understandable for a young lad on the way up with a fantastic season so far. Getting such an injury is never easy.

“We were immediately helping him and telling him he will come back even stronger. We will give him all the support he needs.”

Having joined Southampton at the beginning of the campaign, Livramento has gone on to make a fantastic impression with his new club.

The 19-year-old has made 28 Premier League appearances this season and has received huge praise throughout. Veteran team-mate Theo Walcott has compared the young right-back to Gareth Bale, complimenting the similarity of his pace and power to that of the Real Madrid star.

Over the past year, Livramento has ranked in the 98th percentile for interceptions and the 86th percentile for dribbles completed (via FBRef).
