Dan Gore set for Manchester United loan exit next week

Manchester United have agreed to send Dan Gore on loan to League One side Port Vale for the remainder of the season. The 19-year-old is eager to experience his first proper taste of professional football, with his exit set to be formalised sometime early next week.

The Manchester Evening News understands there was extensive loan interest shown in Gore this month, but Port Vale have offered the best assurances of regular football at a competitive level for the remainder of the campaign.

Championship side Preston were one of the clubs to show an interest in the teenage midfielder, while fellow League One sides Bolton, Blackpool, Fleetwood and Shrewsbury also took a look at him.

RATINGS: How the United players have rated so far this season

Gore made his United debut in the League Cup win over Crystal Palace in September and featured in the dying seconds of the Premier League victory over Aston Villa on Boxing Day.

The academy graduate has been named in 11 matchday squads this season amid United's injury issues, most recently in the defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Port Vale sit 15th in League One, 19 points shy of the play-off positions and seven points clear of the relegation zone. He will play alongside former United duo Tom Sang and James Wilson at the club.

Gore will become the eighth player to leave United on loan this month, following in the footsteps of Alvaro Fernandez (Benfica), Hannibal Mejbri (Sevilla), Joe Hugill (Burton Albion), Maxi Oyedele (Forest Green Rovers), Rhys Bennett (Stockport County), Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund) and Donny van de Beek (Eintracht Frankfurt).
