Dalbeattie Star's cup loss to Queen of the South "hard to swallow" for gaffer
Dalbeattie Star boss Eddie Warwick described their Potts Cup defeat to Queen of the South as “hard to swallow”.
Star raced into an early 2-0 lead at Palmerston but the young hosts fought back and came out 6-3 on top in a goal-filled afternoon.
Warwick said: “Saturday was a hard one to swallow as for the first half and spells in the second half we were absolutely excellent.

“They made changes immediately in the second half and I thought Queens raised their levels. They started to control the game, particularly the midfield, and it was difficult for us to get the ball and play free-flowing attacking football like the first half.
“Credit to the young Queens lads, they showed their level and scored some good goals.
“Obviously our frustration is how some of the goals came about defensively and that’s something we’ll look back on and work to improve certain areas.
“There were many positives to come out of going to Palmerston against full-time reserves and a couple of first team lads and being brave and playing with no fear – that won’t happen too often at Palmerston.
“Well done to Queens and all the best in the next round of the competition.”
