Dad 'utterly disgusted' as children forced to sleep on airport floor after Jet2 chaos

A dad-of-five says he feels “utterly disgusted” after travel chaos forced his children to sleep on the floor in Majorca airport.

Ryan Sinclare, his wife Robyn, her mum Hayley Judson and the couples’ five children Charlie, Mia, Maisy, Albie and Penelope had spent a week on the Spanish island when their nightmare began.

The family were due to fly back to Manchester Airport on Sunday (August 27) but knew a major storm was heading for the holiday hotspot.

Despite this, no changes were made to their Jet2 flight and the family set off to Palma de Mallorca Airport as normal.

When they arrived at around 7pm, they say the airport was in total disarray with hundreds of passengers waiting for travel updates.

Ryan, who lives in Doncaster, says it took more than an hour-and-a-half to check in and get through passport control and security. During this time, the dad claims someone stole his daughter’s bag containing her iPad.

But things only got worse when the family realised their flight was not displayed on any electronic board.

With the plane due to depart at 10pm, the family waited for more than two hours before they finally received an email from Jet2 confirming their flight had been cancelled.

The family were told to go back through passport control, collect their bags and go to Jet2 arrivals where accommodation would be sorted out for them.

However, they allege there was no accommodation available and they either had to pay for their own hotel or sleep in the airport.

After forking out £4,000 for the trip, Ryan says they could not afford to pay for a hotel and the family were forced to spend the night in the airport.
