Cyclist rushed to hospital with 'life-threatening' head injury after crash on Great Ancoats Street

A cyclist has been rushed to hospital with a 'life-threatening' head injury after a collision with a car on a main road.

Emergency services were scrambled to Great Ancoats Street, in Manchester, just after 5pm today (Sunday May 15) and the road was taped off by police. Photographs from the scene show a damaged bicycle on the ground, within the cordon.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed that no arrests have been made in relation to the incident. Great Ancoats Street has also been closed in the southbound direction, following the crash.

A GMP spokesman said: "At around 5.05pm this evening, Sunday 15 th May 2022, police were called to a report of a collision between a car and a cyclist on Great Ancoats Street, Manchester, where the ambulance service was in attendance.

"One man has been taken to hospital with a head injury, his condition has been described as life-threatening at this time. No arrests have been made."
