Cumbernauld Colts boss urges side to end their season strongly

Cumbernauld Colts boss David Proctor has warned his side not to let their Lowland League season fizzle out, after bagging their first win in five league games on Saturday.

Colts fought back from two goals down at home to Cowdenbeath, with goals from Cole McIntyre, Zak Mackay, Daniel Hatfield and Connor McLaren giving them their first win since February 24, leaving them fourth in the table.

The Cumbernauld side now host Edinburgh University in their penultimate game of the season on Saturday, with Gala Fairydean Rovers also due to visit Broadwood on April 20.

Proctor said: “We started really well but against the run of play Cowdenbeath ran up the park and scored, just a lack of concentration.

“But the response after half-time was really good, one of the best second-half performances we’ve had all season.

“It just proved that the boys still have that hunger to make sure we finish the season strong and don’t let things fizzle out.

“We’re looking for six points out of six in the last two home games.

“Edinburgh Uni are fighting for their lives, they’re second-bottom, so they have a lot to play for.

“We need to make sure that we turn up with the right attitude, show the same hunger and intensity that we showed throughout the season when we were fighting at the top end.”
