CSA congratulates Proteas after Test series clean sweep over Bangladesh

Cricket South Africa (CSA) congratulated the Proteas following their emphatic clean sweep in the Test series against Bangladesh.

The Proteas won both Tests by huge margins despite the fact that a number of Test regulars opted to play in the Indian Premier League.

Victory in the first Test at Kingsmead by 220 runs was followed by an even more dominant display at St George's Park, where Deal Elgar's men completed a 332 run win.

CSA chief executive officer Pholetsi Moseki said the win bodes well for the Proteas' next assignment, a tour to England in July.

“The Proteas have yet again shown their impressive dominance in the field of play against formidable opponents. Their confidence and composure served them well and secured them this resounding win.

“We are particularly encouraged that the Proteas’ current rhythm will serve them well in their next encounter against England later in the year.

“CSA accordingly congratulates the Proteas for continuing to do the country proud and thanks to coach Mark Boucher, captain Dean Elgar and the entire team for this thrilling victory.”

CSA board chairperson Lawson Naidoo said: “This win shows that the Proteas are on the path to greater heights in their campaign to reclaim the position as the world’s best cricket side.
