Crystal Palace: Vieira could make 6'4 star his 'main man' instead of signing Andre Silva

Crystal Palace want Jean-Philippe Mateta to become their main striker under Patrick Vieira rather than a new big-name signing like Andre Silva, claims transfer insider Dean Jones.

The south London club have been linked with the Portugal international, but it looks like they will continue to put their faith in Mateta.

Of late, there is no denying that the 24-year-old has been very good for Palace. He scored in their impressive 4-0 win over Everton in the FA Cup, which came after a bright run in the Premier League.

In Palace’s last two league victories against Wolves and Watford, Mateta managed to register twice, making him the Eagles’ most in-form striker in this moment of time.

That, however, has not stopped talk emerging about the top-flight outfit potentially moving for Silva this summer.

According to Calciomercato, they are interested in signing the RB Leipzig star, who has also caught the attention of Vieira’s former side Arsenal and Atletico Madrid.

“They still have hope and belief that he can be the answer Vieira is looking for as that forward.”

Silva does not need to be a priority for Palace in the next transfer window. They have Mateta, who has found some form and seems to be a player they have a lot of faith in.

The Premier League outfit also just signed him
