Crystal Palace: Patrick Vieira makes 'surprise' call on 18 y/o gem

Crystal Palace’s decision to hand Tayo Adaramola a first senior start in the FA Cup win over Stoke City came as a shock, according to The Sun journalist Tom Barclay.

The Eagles booked their place in the last eight of the competition by overcoming the Championship side 2-1 at Selhurst Park, with Jairo Riedewald bagging a late winner after Josh Tymon had cancelled out Cheikhou Kouyate’s opener.

Adaramola admitted it was ‘an amazing feeling’ to grab his maiden senior start and also admitted match-winner Riedewald took him ‘under his wing’ in a bid to settle the youngster’s nerves.

His first big chance came having joined Palace following unsuccessful brief stints with Charlton Athletic and West Ham United.

Barclay told GIVEMESPORT: “It was a bit of a surprise. I’ve only really been learning about him since then
