Crysencio Summerville to Rangers transfer 'interest' resurfaces as two new factors change the game

Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville has once again been linked with a move to Rangers.

The 20-year-old was reportedly in the frame all throughout the January window with Gio van Bronckhorst said to be keen on his countryman.

Those reports came to nothing with the Ibrox side not believed to have been pursuing a deal at the time.

Things have changed since though with Summerville about to enter the final year on his contract at Leeds.

He's had only one appearance to his name since January and that was a 12-minute cameo in the FA Cup.

And German outlet Frankfurter Rundschau say Rangers have made their interest in signing him clear.

Summerville's lack of first team action at Elland Road means he is likely to pursue a move in the summer.

And it seems Jesse Marsch, who is yet to use him, will be more keen to sanction a summer exit than Marcelo Bielsa was, given the winger's dwindling contract and minimal involvement.

They also say Hamburg are keen to sign him after failing to in the summer, but they've fallen out of the Bundesliga 2 automatic promotion chase.

They would struggle to compete with the Ibrox side financially if they fail to earn promotion.

And that could clear the way for Rangers as Van Bronckhorst looks to rebuild after watching his own side's title hopes collapse.
