Cristiano Ronaldo shows true colours with two-word Man Utd statement

Cristiano Ronaldo demonstrated his lasting love for Manchester United as he wished his former club "the best".

The footballing icon was a special guest on Rio Ferdinand's 'Rio Meets' YouTube series where the former United team-mates discussed numerous topics, including Ronaldo's stunning return to England in 2021.

Despite a whirlwind second debut campaign for the Portugal international that saw him score 24 goals in 38 games, his return home soured in 2022 after falling out with United boss Erik ten Hag.

In a bombshell interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo admitted that he didn't respect the Dutchman as his contract was soon mutually terminated. He then secured a move to Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Nassr two months later.

During his conversation with Ferdinand, Ronaldo revealed his long-lasting love for the club that first signed him when he was 18 years old. "What I wish for Manchester United is what I wish for me, the best, to make again the best team they can," the 39-year-old said.

"I love that club, I'm not that kind of guy that forgot the past. When I was back there, I was very happy, I was one of the best scorers [in the Premier League], I did unbelievable things with the club."

Ronaldo looked back on his first season back at United which was a roaring success before lambasting Ten Hag for stating that the club were not yet ready to challenge for the Premier League - a statement the Dutchman made earlier this summer.
