Cristiano Ronaldo's Man Utd goals are crucial - but flaws in his game can't be ignored

Cristiano Ronaldo was once again Manchester United’s saviour on Thursday night after he finished superbly past Chelsea ’s Edouard Mendy to rescue a point for his side.

It was on the whole another forgettable display from United as they were dominated for large periods of the 1-1 draw with Thomas Tuchel’s men. With chances few and far, Ronaldo had a quiet evening on either side of his goal, however, he was still the subject of high praise from Gary Neville after the game.

“He came to score goals, and he’s scoring goals. He must be incredibly frustrated. It’s (team’s performances) not what he wanted at the end of his career, not what he wanted on his return to Manchester United, but he still continues. His persistence, his determination to continue to contribute to score goals is absolutely incredible. You can’t really speak highly enough of him.”
