Cristiano Ronaldo has become the latest big name in the football world to speak out against Russia 's attacks on Ukraine.
The Manchester United superstar's comments come after the Polish national team confirmed that they would boycott their World Cup play-off match against Russia.
On an Instagram story, Ronaldo wrote: "We need to create a better world for our children. Praying for peace in our world."
His club have also taken a firm stance against the ongoing atrocities in Ukraine ordered by Vladimir Putin, as United cut ties with Russian-owned airline sponsor Aeroflot on Friday.
"In light of events in Ukraine, we have withdrawn Aeroflot's sponsorship rights," a spokesperson for the club said. "We share the concerns of our fans around the world and extend our sympathies to those affected."
The Red Devils began their partnership with Aeroflot in 2013, with their deal being renewed four years later to earn them £40million.
