Cristiano Ronaldo influence and fan of Manchester United - Rasmus Hojlund was made for Old Trafford

Rasmus Hojlund is left-footed, blonde haired and a Scandinavian striker, so comparisons to Erling Haaland were probably inevitable, but the youngster's role model is a player who recently left Manchester United.

Hojlund is a self-confessed Cristiano Ronaldo fan. “My father introduced me to him when he was at United then me and my best friend followed him when he was at Real Madrid," he said in an interview earlier this year.

"I just like his mentality, I love that he’s so eager to score a goal, the thing for me is he is so passionate about wanting to be the best and I like it. I grew up in a family with a lot of football and related things.

"My brothers play in Copenhagen now, my father played before, we always talk at the family dinner about football and it must be hard for my mother sometimes but she is also interested and supports us.”

Hojlund was born in February 2003 - just a few months before the Black Eyed Peas' hit track 'Where Is the Love?' was released - and he was just five years old when Ronaldo won the Ballon d'Or award for the first time.

Ronaldo was unplayable in his final two seasons at Old Trafford before he made a move to Real Madrid and he made a lasting impression on a very young Hojlund, who was watching a club he'd eventually represent himself.

There is a photo circulating on social media from what is allegedly Hojlund's Facebook account and it shows himself as a boy with a picture with a digital Manchester United sticker over it, so it seems he's always dreamed of playing in M16.

"Now that you ask, I will not hide the fact that I am a huge Manchester United fan," he said in January.

United reached an agreement with Atalanta to sign Hojlund
