Cristiano Ronaldo has already told new Man United CEO Omar Berrada what he needs to fix first

Once the dust settles on Omar Berrada's controversial move to Manchester United from Manchester City, he will need to set about tackling a range of issues that have been holding his new club back.

Berrada caused quite a stir over the weekend after agreeing to become the new chief executive at Old Trafford, becoming the first significant strategic move of the Sir Jim Ratcliffe era. That he vacated such a prominent role at the Etihad to do so only adds to the intrigue.

Berrada has swapped a winning machine for an under-performing English football titan that has seemingly lost its way. If a new broom sweeps clean, then it is safe to assume that there is already a growing pile of requests on the new man's desk as one of the most storied clubs in European football tries to regain its long-held position at the top of the tree.

Among the issues of overpaid squad members and a crumbling stadium is the condition of the club's Carrington training ground. When United first moved there in 2000, it was considered state of the art. The state of the training ground was best described by one of the world's best players when Cristiano Ronaldo returned to United for his second spell in 2021. The all-time great declared that 'the progress was zero' at Carrington in the last decade.

Thankfully, some improvements have been made since that damming verdict was delivered. The upstairs room at the training ground was redesigned at a cost of around £200,000 after Erik ten Hag insisted that improvement plans be brought forward.
