Cristiano Ronaldo can offer Manchester United FFP escape route after Casemiro transfer 'approach'

Cristiano Ronaldo could ease the financial pressure on Manchester United this summer as he reportedly wants Al Nassr to sign Casemiro this summer.

Thirty-nine-year-old Ronaldo was inconsolable after Al Nassr suffered a penalty shoot-out defeat to Saudi Pro League champions Al-Hilal in the final of the King's Cup. Despite converting his penalty, the former Manchester United forward's efforts weren't enough as a missed effort from Meshari Al-Nemer resulted in a 6-5 shoot-out loss.

Following Friday's defeat, Ronaldo has reportedly asked Al Nassr to strengthen the side with a handful of his ex-Real Madrid team-mates as he aims to win his first title in Riyadh. It is claimed that Ronaldo wants Manchester United midfielder Casemiro, who he won four Champions League titles with at Real Madrid, to make the move to Al Nassr after a difficult second season at Old Trafford.

The Brazilian signed for Erik ten Hag's side for £70m in August 2022 and enjoyed a strong first season at Old Trafford as United won the Carabao Cup and finished third in the Premier League.

However, his second season at the club was punctuated by injuries and poor performances and, consequently, was the subject of criticism for his performances in the latter stages of the campaign.
