Cristiano Ronaldo breaks silence after Al-Nassr sack manager Rudi Garcia

Former Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo took to Instagram to wish Rudi Garcia the best after he was sacked by Al-Nassr on Thursday.

The Saudi Arabian Pro League club announced on Twitter that Garcia would be leaving his role immediately. Their statement read: "Al-Nassr can announce that Head Coach Rudi Garcia has left the Club by mutual agreement.

"The board and everyone at Al-Nassr would like to thank Rudi and his staff for their dedicated work during the past eight months." Former Marseille and Lyon coach Garcia was appointed in July last year and enjoyed a successful spell that saw him average 2.27 points per match.

On Sunday, Al-Nassr were held to a frustrating goalless draw at Al Feiha which resulted in Ronaldo angrily shouting that their opponents 'did not want to play' as he stormed off the pitch. The 38-year-old's teammates were then involved in an altercation with the home side's players as tempers flared.

After the match, reports circulated that a rift had formed between the players and Garcia as Al-Nassr lost ground in the title race to Al Ittihad. It was claimed that Ronaldo was unhappy with the recent change in tactics and the resulting poor form.

But, on his Instagram story, the Portuguese forward took the opportunity to thank Garcia and wish him well for the future. Ronaldo posted: "Pleasure to have worked with you.

"Wishing you all the best for the future." Less than half an hour after Garcia's departure was confirmed, Al-Nassr announced that their U19 coach Dinko Jelicic had been appointed the new head coach ahead of their derby clash with Al Hilal on Tuesday.
