Cristiano Fitzgerald handed Dundee United transfer chance as Ronaldo namesake starts Tannadice trial

Dundee United have handed Republic of Ireland youth international Cristiano Fitzgerald the chance to win a move to Tannadice after the Boavista youngster speed merchant started training with the Tangerines. The Under-19 international, who is named after Portugal and Manchester United legend Ronaldo, came through the youth ranks at Boavista.

It has been previously claimed by the Irish media that Fitzgerald, who is aged 18, is one of the fastest players in world football and has been clocked running 35.27km per hour - which is faster than England star Kyle Walker. The teenager was born in Singapore but his dad, Jimmy, is from Ireland and moved to Europe to pursue his professional dream, where he has been with the Porto-based club since 2017.

United, via their scouting department, have been running the rule over Fitzgerald and Jack Ross has decided to take a closer look at the Boavista starlet. The Tannadice club are also running the rule over Ugandan youngsters Sadat Anaku and Enock Walusimbi. Striker Anaku currently plays for KCCA and Walusimbi is a defender. The pair both played in a friendly, along with several first-team players, in against Leicester City earlier this week.
