Crisis averted as Leona Maguire's golf clubs are found after going missing at Dublin Airport

Golf clubs belonging to Leona Maguire, that earlier went missing as she flew out of Dublin Airport to Geneva, have thankfully been located.

Maguire's quest or a first-ever major title in this week's Amundi Evian Championship would have been seriously disrupted without her trusted equipment but thankfully the story has a happy ending.

The Cavan woman earlier took to social media to appeal for help after her equipment was misplaced as she flew to the Swiss city.

"Really need help from someone @DublinAirport or DAA. Flew from Dublin to Geneva yesterday direct and somehow my golf bag has gone missing between checkin and takeoff. @FlySWISS & @swissportNews have no idea where it is. Need it urgently for @EvianChamp major this week," her tweet read.

A subsequent tweet from Maguire, however, confirmed that the clubs had been found.

"Just spoke to a legend called Claire? Found the bag,"

Maguire, currently ranked 19th in the world, already has one top-10 finish in a major this season having come in in a tie for eighth at the Women's US Open. Her best ever result in the top events came at last year’s Evian Championship when she finished in a tie for sixth.

The event starts on Thursday, with Ireland's Stephanie Meadow also earning an invite on the strength of her CME Globe points tally.
