Crime scene investigators scour street for evidence after shooting in Gorton

Crime scene investigators have been pictured scouring a street in Gorton for evidence this morning after a shooting.

Police said a gun was blasted on Hampden Crescent at around 5.45pm yesterday (Monday, October 7) in a 'targeted attack'. A 19-year-old male was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

A number of police vehicles remain stationed on the scene. No further details on the nature of the shooting, or the details on the victim's injuries, have been released at this stage.

In a statement issued last night, a GMP spokesperson said: "At approximately 5:45pm this evening (7 October), officers were called to reports of a firearms discharge on Hampden Crescent in Manchester. A 19-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries although these are not believed to be life-threatening.

"Two males aged 15 and 21 have been arrested on suspicion of attempt murder. They remain in custody for questioning."

Detective Superintendent Gareth Jenkins said: "The shooting that occurred earlier this evening will understandably cause concern within the community, however our investigation is moving at pace and two arrests have been made in connection with the incident. I would like to reassure the community
