Cricket Ireland seek security advice after Khan assassination attempt in Pakistan
Cricket Ireland say they are monitoring the situation in Pakistan after an incident involving former Prime Minister Imran Khan, which took place approximately 150km outside Lahore, venue of the three ODIs and three T20Is between Ireland Women and Pakistan Women.
Khan was shot in the foot while canvassing in an apparent assassination attempt and the current advice provided to Cricket Ireland is that there will be no change in the threat level as a result of the incident.
The Ireland Women's squad has been briefed, while Cricket Ireland's security advisors will continue to review procedures and monitor the situation.
Presently, there are no anticipated changes to the security arrangements and procedures that are already in place for the tour and its almost certain that Irelands first game against Pakistan will go ahead at 4.30am Irish time tomorrow
Ireland captain Laura Delaney said they have been warmly greeted in Lahore.
"We were warmly greeted by everyone who came out, it was an amazing experience, I'd never seen anything like that before.
"I think we are just enjoying the experience of playing in such an amazing stadium, everyone has been incredibly welcoming and we are looking forward to the series" she added.
The three one day internationals are part of the ICC Women's Championship.
