Crazy football moments: Kedah FA v Pahang turned into carnage during stoppage time

Malaysian Super League side Kedah FA maintained their 100% record in the domestic top-fight with a 1-0 victory over Pahang on Wednesday – during which both sides treated the world to 20 seconds of absolute carnage that really needs to be seen to be believed.

Hosts Kedah took the lead in the 55th minute as centre-back Rodney Celvin bundled the ball home from close range.

Pahang – playing their first match of the season – weren’t prepared to go down without a scrap though and pushed hard for an equaliser for much of the second period.

Those efforts nearly paid dividends when they won a corner on the stroke of the 90-minute mark. The resulting set-piece led to a thoroughly insane passage of play and we still can’t work out how a goal (for either side) wasn’t scored during it.

Firstly, the Pahang goalkeeper (having come up for the corner) fluffs an audacious attempt at an overhead kick before the ball breaks to one of his teammates, who then sees his own effort cleared off the line in fine style.

As if that sequence of events wasn’t dramatic enough, a member of the Pahang coaching staff is then seen making his way on to the pitch as Kadah launch a counter-attack.

With their keeper stranded upfield, it seems for a moment as though the staff member involved is actually considering bringing down the Kedah player to stop the attack in its tracks.

Wisely, the pitch-invading coach thinks better of it. He had no reason to worry in any case.

With the goal at his mercy, the Kedah player inexplicably decides to have a shot from the better part of 40-yards out, rather than simply walking the ball into an unguarded net.

Can you name these UEFA Champions League final stadiums?

His tame effort never looks goal-bound and eventually
