Crazy football bets: Punter wins staggering £308k in incredible six-fold bet

Forest Green Rovers made history over the weekend as they were crowned champions of League Two in dramatic fashion.

Having looked dead certain to win the league by a handsome margin, Rovers’ form spiralled alarmingly out of control, managing just one in seven as they approached the final day.

In fact, so dramatic was their downturn in form, they arrived on the last day of the season needing Exeter City to slip up in order for them to steal in at the last and clinch glory.

Fortunately, that is exactly what happened. Exeter lost 1-0 at Port Vale leaving striker Josh Marsch the opportunity to claim glory for himself as he clinched a late equaliser to send Rovers top.

It made for a frightfully nervy afternoon for fans but there will have been one fan in particular who might have struggled to bring himself to even watch it all.

At the beginning of the season, the punter lodged an ambitious six-fold accumulator predicting the winners of various leagues in the UK.

With Fulham, Wigan, Kilmarnock, Cove and Kelty Hearts all delivering on their end of the bargain, it was down to Forest Green to cap the dream.
