Craig Noone Scores OUTRAGEOUS Volley In An Australian League Match, It’s An Early Contender For The Puskas Award

Former Cardiff winger Craig Noone has scored an incredible outside-of-the-boot volley during an A-League match in Australia.

Noone, who also had spells with Plymouth Argyle, Brighton and Bolton, scored the 90th minute equaliser for Sydney-based side Macarthur FC in their match against the Central Coast Mariners on Thursday.

With his side trailing 3-2 heading into the closing stages, Noone takes a corner from the left only to see his delivery cleared by a defender.

One of his team-mates collects the ball in midfield and then fires an inch-perfect cross-field pass to Noone, who is waiting just outside the area on the left wing.

Rather than attempting to take the ball down, Noone tries his luck with a first-time shot with the outside of his right foot.

He connects perfectly, with the ball flying past the despairing dive from the Mariners goalkeeper and into the far corner.

The strike is being tipped as an early contender for the Puskas Award, which is given to the scorer of the best goal in a calendar year.

Noone left English football in 2019 to move to the A-League with Melbourne City.

He spent two years with the club before moving to Macarthur FC before the start of this season.
