Courtney Lawes in the frame to captain England for Wales clash
Eddie Jones could face a new captaincy dilemma next week as Courtney Lawes came through training on Friday and is now available for an England comeback against Wales.
The 32-year-old Northampton forward has not played, or trained fully, since suffering a head injury last month but he was able to take part in a session with the rest of the England squad in London on Friday.
Having Lawes available again is a huge boost for England ahead of their showdown with the Welsh at Twickenham on Saturday.
He was in supreme form during the November campaign, operating at blindside flanker - and also deputised impressively as skipper in the enforced absence of Owen Farrell.
Sale flanker Tom Curry led England against Scotland and Italy in the Six Nations and earned praise from Jones. Now, the head coach must decide whether to revert to Lawes, or persist with Curry.
Defence coach Anthony Seibold said: ‘Courtney trained fully today, which is really good news for himself and for England. He’s had a good preparation this week. He looked sharp. Courtney got through training 100 per cent. That was the last box to tick for him. He’s had a very thorough return-to-play integration and did everything today in the session.’
