Court 'will not reveal certain details' of Jay Slater case until after investigation is complete

The long search for answers over Jay Slater's disappearance remains ongoing as his family come to terms with the tragedy in Tenerife. The body of the 19-year-old from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, was discovered in a 'rough and inaccessible' area near Masca, the Civil Guard said yesterday (July 15).

Further details have since emerged over how Jay died as a result of a fall, while his identity was confirmed using fingerprints. Yet there remain significant questions over the operation - particularly regarding where Jay was found and why it took 29 days to find him.

An investigation by the Canary Islands' High Court of Justice is yet to be completed, although Jay's autopsy found he suffered 'multiple injuries compatible with a fall in a rocky area'. The Manchester Evening News understands certain details will not be released by the court until the probe has concluded.

Meanwhile, the Civil Guard has been similarly tight-lipped regarding details of the case beyond those it has revealed in official statements. Jay's mum, Debbie Duncan, said confirmation the body found yesterday was her missing son was 'the worst news' earlier today.

She added: "I just can't believe this could happen to my beautiful boy. Our hearts are broken." Jay had travelled north to the remote corner of Tenerife following a rave at Playa de las Americas - more than 30km away - on June 17.
