Council expects to make £375k from Oasis gigs and other events at Heaton Park

Manchester council expects to make £375,000 from the Oasis gigs and other events at Heaton park in 2025/26.

Liam and Noel Gallagher are reuniting for a tour in 2025. It includes five gigs at Heaton Park. An estimated 80,000 fans will attend each night.

The park is owned by the council, which says the events will come at no cost to the taxpayer.

Budget papers revealed the town hall will profit from the gigs and other events at the 600-acre park over the next year. A scrutiny committee heard the £375,000 is a ‘one off’.

It comes as town hall bosses plan to introduce higher parking fees; £180 litter fines; and increased social care charges in a bid to plug a £29m budget gap.

Council papers read: “Savings of £400k are proposed for 2025/26 through increased income, but £375k of this is one off and will arise from the increased number of concerts at Heaton Park in 2025/26.

"The balance of savings is from increased income through more commercial use of spaces across the city centre.”

Coun Olusegun Ogunbambo urged the council to make sure residents are not disturbed as Oasis return.

Town hall officers said contingency budgets are in place to deal with issues on surrounding roads and policing. Transport for Greater Manchester and Greater Manchester Police are working with the council to ensure things go smoothly.

John Hacking, executive councillor for leisure, said in a statement back in October: "The staging of next year's concerts at Heaton Park come at no cost to the public purse.
