Could Kamaru Usman fight at 205 pounds in the UFC?
Kamaru Usman is regarded as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC as the reigning Welterweight Champion, but could ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ make the move up to the 205-pound division?
Whilst it isn’t rare to see UFC Champions make the move either up or down in divisions, we haven’t seen someone make the jump up by two weight classes whilst still being the reigning champ.
Former UFC great Chael Sonnen recently discussed the potential of Usman making the move up to 205-pounds, with a potential mega-fight against Light Heavyweight king Jiri Prochazka an exciting prospect.
Here is what Chael Sonnen had to say regarding the potential move of Kamaru Usman up two weight classes to fight in the UFC Light Heavyweight division.

Ali Abdelaziz, the manager of Usman and the likes of Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje and Henry Cejudo, has said that Usman is considering a move up to the 205-pound division.
Abdelaziz tweeted: “I just rewatched the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship, I believe [Kamaru Usman] will beat Jiri, Jan and Glover. Not talking trash, but this is real.”

As noted, Chael Sonnen has his own thoughts regarding Usman making way up to the 205-pound division.
Whilst some fans and critics would argue that Usman would be too small to offer a genuine challenge to Prochazka, Sonnen isn’t having any of it.
