Arnott's, the Australian firm responsible for Nice biscuits, has at last clarified the correct pronunciation of their name.
It's highly probable that a majority of us Brits have sampled these biscuits at some point, perhaps even enjoying them with a cuppa. But have we been referring to them correctly?
The biscuit giant shed light on the proper pronunciation during an exchange on X (previously known as Twitter) with a curious customer.

A puzzled biscuit enthusiast reached out to Arnott's, tweeting: "G'day @ArnottsBikkies - would you mind giving us the definitive ruling on the pronunciation of the legendary 'Nice' biscuit? N-ice or niece? Cheers."
An Arnott's representative cleared up the confusion by responding: "Hi Bruno, thank you for your query. Nice biscuits were named after the city in the South of France and pronounced the same as that city. They have been part of the Arnott's range since 1922."
To eliminate any lingering uncertainty for those unfamiliar with the French city, the correct pronunciation is 'neece', which may come as a surprise to some.
This revelation sparked quite a reaction on social media, delighting many who were pleased to finally learn the correct pronunciation.
One user expressed their joy online, responding: "I'm so happy to finally know the answer to this. Never too old to learn something new! Yet not everyone was taken aback by the news. Someone else commented: " However, not everyone was shocked by the news. Another individual commented: "I thought everyone knew that."
Another added, with a hint of obviousness: "Well duh, used to annoy me when people called them Nice biscuits."
