Coronation Street says 'we promise' as ITV soap villains unite on star-studded night

Coronation Street was left issuing a 'promise' to fans of its own show as well as Emmerdale as two of the biggest villains in soap right now joined forces. Actors Calum Lill and James Chase were both seen attending the RadioTimes.com Soap Awards in Manchester on Saturday night (July 13).

As well as Corrie and Emmerdale, the casts og Hollyoaks and EastEnders were out in force as they hit the red carpet before the ceremony, which was held in the city's historic Midland Hotel - but there was one soap that dominated as EastEnders picked up the most silverware on the night.

But as the gongs were given out, all eyes were on the soap stars themselves and Corrie surprised fans by bringing Joel Deering and the Dales' own Tom King together for one night only.

Sharing a picture of Calum and James, who plays dastardly characters in their respective soaps, to Instagram, Corrie said: "When (soap) world’s collide (they’re lovely in real life, we promise)."

And fans were quick to respond. @willmccoy1 said: "Both portraying nasty characters, fabulously. Hats off to both of you!!" @corrieluvsx joked: "Joel and Tom?? I'm scared." @rebecca.shipway.1410 shared: "I don't know who's worst ☺️ they both play their parts so well, and so realistically, @calumlill @justjimmychasing."

@stokietori replied: "Evilllll Ahahaa this is why soap land is brilliant." @timrichardjones wrote: "Love the picture & 2 wonderful actors that r so amazing playing villains but r so nice off screen." @andypandyhenson added: "We hate them because they are such fantastic actors."
