Coronation Street's Jane Hazlegrove surprises with first-ever appearance in Weatherfield and not as Bernie Winter
Coronation Street star Jane Hazlegrove has been flooded with messages as she revealed her first-ever appearance on the cobbles - and she wasn't playing Bernie Winter.
Before being known for her cobbles alter-ego, Jane was probably best known for portraying the role of Kathleen "Dixie" Dixon on and off for 20 years in Casualty.
And while viewers of the ITV soap will no know the actress for playing Bernie having joined the long-running show back in 2019, playing the character wasn't Jane's first stint in Corrie. She actually played Sue Clayton in Corrie back in 1985, the youngest daughter of Harry and Connie Clayton.

Now, Jane has reminded her fans of her previous time on the cobbles. She shared a throwback snap of herself and Caroline O'Neill, who played Sue's sibling Andrea Clayton.
Alongside the photo, in which she could be seen smiling for the camera while wearing a school uniform, Jane wrtoe: "Sweet sixteen.. Coronation Street in 1985, Sue Clayton and her big sister Andrea played by the brilliant Caroline ONeil. Cheers Corrie.., bought my driving lessons with this gig! @coronationstreet."
Corrie co-star Sally Dynevor, who is famed for playing Sally Metcalfe in Weatherfield, was quick to respond, writing: "Remember it well xxx," while Abi Webster star Sally Carman-Duttine commented: "Absolutely tremendous."
And her followers were also quick to comment. @wendy_l1968 said: "A fabulous career began." @graingerangie commented: "Oh my gosh, I vaguely remember this! I'm just a couple of years older and have watched Corrie all my life!" @arc248 wrote: "My God you
