Coronation Street's Claire Sweeney supported as she dazzles on red carpet after Ricky Hatton split

Claire Sweeney has been flooded with messages as the Coronation Street star brushed off the news of her split from Ricky Hatton hitting the headlines for a glamourous night out with her mum and son.

The actress, who is currently playing Cassie Plummer in the ITV soap, was among the string of famous faces - including Anna Wintour, Lily Collins and Donatella Versace - hitting the red carpet at the gala opening of the new show, The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical, at the Dominion Theatre in London.

The West End show hosted a charity gala for the Elton John AIDS Foundation on Sunday evening (December 1), with Sir Elton having written the score for the new show based on the 2006 comedy film starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway.

Taking to social media, Claire shared a string of snaps of herself as she headed to the special event and it's fair to say the soap star looked fabulous as she sported a glistening white gown with dramatic cape detailing. She kept her short blonde locks down and added a pop of colour whit a red lip.

Captioning the update on Instagram, Claire wrote: "Wonderful evening ahead @ejaf @eltonjohn Gala Performance of Devil Wears Prada @jwponstage wearing @elizajanehowell @elizajanehowelleveningwear." She later added alongside a post of her posing inside the theatre: "So proud of my friend’s Jamie Wilson and Kevin Mcollum @jwponstage @pradawestend @elizajanehowelleveningwear this show is amazing with a phenomenal cast. @jammyprod you are a genius @darrencarnall1."
