Coronation Street fans have said 'hold on' after they were left 'flabbergasted' by the show's latest move as they were given news about Bethany Platt. As viewers of the ITV soap know, Bethany has headed to Turkey for work.

Last week, viewers saw Debbie Webster inform Bethany that a friend of hers is the CEO of a cosmetic surgery company and she was looking for someone to write an advertorial on their new facility in Turkey. After initially turning it down, her boyfriend Daniel Osbourne convinced her to change her mind.

However, during Monday night's episode (September 23) it was revealed that things had gone wrong for Bethany as she decided to go under the knife for liposuction, leaving her fighting for her life in intensive care.

Daniel was the one who received the call before he informed Bethany's mum Sarah, who devastated to discover her passport did have enough time valid on it to get her into Turkey. Daniel ended up having to make the trip alone, with Sarah promising to follow behind once she got a new emergency passport.

After heading off as quickly as he could, Daniel was later seen walking through an airport in Istanbul - with Corrie even updating one of its post-ad break shots to show the airport's exterior instead of the usual Weatherfield-based image.
