Coronation Street fans say 'don't you dare' as they fear for much-loved character

Corrie fans said "don't you even think about it" as the ITV soap teased a grisly fate for a much-loved character. Cobbles legend Roy Cropper is currently behind bars awaiting trial over the murder of Lauren Bolton.

The teenager mysteriously disappeared from Weatherfield on February 23 after being sacked by Roy from her job at Roy's Rolls - and there's been no trace of her since. Before she vanished, viewers saw her being visited both by the cafe boss with her wages and a mystery person.

Wednesday night's episode will see Roy's new prison pal Roscoe trying to lure him to the library as part of a plot to kill him by villainous far-right activist Griff. A preview released by ITV shows the two discussing the plan, with Roy then innocently asking: "Why are you so keen to get me to the library?"

@l_t_walton added: "Gosh Roy doesn't deserve this" while an unhappy @debrafulton315 said: "Don't you dare kill our lovely Roy!!!" and @debbie.forse.507 commented: "They better not kill Roy off".

@denicewillson was similarly unimpressed, warning: "You better not touch him if this happens I will never watch corrie again" and @chelletabby said simply: "Leave Roy alone!"

There were also a number of calls for the show to bring the saga to an end. @mariakaralekas was among those hoping there
