Coronation Street fans issue demand as they go wild for icon's return to the cobbles that wasn't seen in soap
Coronation Street fans have issued a demand to the show's bosses after an icon was seen returning to the cobbles - but not in the ITV soap.
Those tuning into Dancing On Ice on Sunday night (February 2) saw one of the programme's stars Sam Aston stumble on the ice during his performance to Baba O'Riley by The Who with professional skater partner Molly Lanaghan.
The actor, who is famed for playing Weatherfield's Chesney Brown, chose the song in dedication to his time on the cobbles, having joined when he was just 10 years old alongside his mother, Cilla, who moved into No.5 Coronation Street with Les Battersby back in 2003.
But it was a tricky performance for Sam thanks to his stumble before it was revealed that he had earlier fallen badly during rehearsal and that medics had to click his shoulder back into place. That being said, Sam managed to survive this week's elimination, with Sir Steve Redgrave bidding farewell to the skating competition instead.
However, it was fair to say that Corrie fans were distracted when it came to Sam's performance as beforehand, in his VT, the soap star was seen on the soap's Trafford-based set where he was joined by a very familiar face.
Malcolm Hebden, who is famed for playing Norris Cole in Corrie, appeared on screen while Sam paid tribute to him and spoke about how the legendary actor took him under his wing when he joined the long-running show. Speaking in Roy's Rolls, Malcolm - who played nosy neighbour Norris for 1,600 episodes of Corrie - was praised by Sam, with Malcolm admitted his was like an adopted grandchild.
Fans were quick to flock to social media, with some issuing a demand about Norris' return to Weatherfield despite his off-screen death in 2021. @StuartBeckMP said: "I
