Cooper keen: Paul Taylor issues huge transfer claim that'll excite Forest supporters - opinion

Nottingham Forest have been heavily linked with a move for Morgan Gibbs-White this summer, and a new update from a reliable source has now given an update on the club’s pursuit of the player.

According to The Athletic’s Nottingham Forest reporter Paul Taylor, it is understood that Steve Cooper is keen on reuniting with the Wolves midfielder over the coming weeks.

In an article for The Athletic, Taylor claimed that the Reds remain among the frenetic competition to sign the youngster, who is considered a primary target for the newly-promoted Premier League club.

Taylor also revealed that the club will hope that Gibbs-White’s relationship with Cooper will help to seal the deal ahead of their competitors, as the Welshman is keen to work with the player again.

Gibbs-White is one of the hottest young English prospects on the market right now, so there is no doubt that Forest supporters will be excited that the club have made the player a priority to sign this summer.

Cooper is no stranger to the 22-year-old midfielder after working with him during his loan spell at Swansea City in the first half of the 2020/21 season, while he also managed the player to victory with the England under-17s when they won that age group’s World Cup five years ago.

The Forest manager reserved high praise for the player when working with him at the Liberty Stadium, telling The Athletic: “He’s having a good impact. Like all of the young players their challenge now is to not get complacent and keep it going.

“He’s just going through that young player process of making the most of their opportunities and having a good impact, fulfilling potential.”
