Conte may already have big transfer regret at Spurs over £25m-rated "difference-maker" - opinion
Antonio Conte may have some transfer regret at Tottenham Hotspur as Bryan Gil has already made his mark at Valencia…
On deadline day, the Italian head coach sanctioned the loan departure of the 20-year-old gem, who was only signed from LaLiga rivals Sevilla in a £21.6m swap deal involving Erik Lamela in the summer.
The young Spaniard had found game time hard to come by under both of Spurs’ managers this season, managing only 756 minutes across 20 appearances, in which he’s delivered just the one assist, via Transfermarkt.
Therefore, the decision to send him out for the remainder of the season looks to be a smart one on the face of it but we already knew what he could do in the Spanish top-flight, so perhaps a switch to another Premier League side would’ve been more suffice.
But he has already made his mark at Los Che in just two appearances.
Gil has played in two 90 minute matches since arriving at the Mestalla. He featured in their Copa del Rey quarter-final win over Cadiz last week before the weekend’s 0-0 draw with Real Sociedad in LaLiga.
According to Spanish newspaper El Desmarque, the 20-year-old is already a ‘darling of the supporters’ and has earned comparisons to David Silva, who is something of a club legend and that sort of praise isn’t said lightly.
‘In addition, his exquisite control and his vision of the game greatly favours the team when it comes to adding magic in every detail he leaves.
‘The boy even took command in every offensive action of Valencia CF. He was encouraged to take free kicks, hang corner kicks and dribble on the edge of the box.
‘In the second half he leaked a tremendous ball through to Maxi Gómez that Alex Remiro blocked. In the purest David Silva style, magical,’ they wrote (via Sport
