Conor McGregor: UFC legend tells him to ignore Mike Tyson career advice

Conor McGregor’s UFC return could be imminent, with Mike Tyson and Michael Bisping offering their thoughts on his comeback.

McGregor hasn’t entered the Octagon since his leg break against Dustin Poirier in their third meeting at UFC 264 last July.

After undergoing a lengthy recovery process, Notorious is setting his sights on a return to the cage, with many people having differing opinions on what he should do.

The Irishman is adamant that he wants to return straight away to the welterweight division. He has challenged Kamaru Usman to a fight as he looks to make it a hat-trick of world titles.

Boxing icon Tyson isn’t convinced by that tactic, though.

Without a win in two years and after a huge injury lay off, Tyson believes he’ll get hurt regardless.

Speaking on The Fight Card Podcast, Tyson had the following to say on McGregor’s return: “Even if he wins, he’s gonna get hurt in the next fight and he can’t fight the next fight [after that].

“You get your experience down, three more fights, you feel good. The last two guys are really qualified opponents, now you go back out there. I’m a strong believer that after a defeat you should do a couple of fights to get your feet wet. Conor, I think you should build your confidence up and go do what you do, win excitingly.”

Bisping isn’t convinced with Tyson’s advice, however, stating the following in his recent YouTube video.

“I understand what Mike’s talking about, of course, you lose a fight, a couple of fights, three of your last four and the last fight you had you snap your leg which was a gruesome injury, you’re taking time away from the Octagon…
