Conor Benn calls out Chris Eubank Jr after his Liam Williams victory

Conor Benn was quick to call out Chris Eubank Jr following the middleweight's statement win over Liam Williams on Saturday night. 

Eubank Jr finally ended his 10-year rivalry with 'The Machine' at the Motorpoint Arena in Williams' home city of Cardiff, knocking his Welsh counterpart to the canvas on four occasions on the way to a unanimous decision victory. 

The 32-year-old, who has made clear improvements since partnering with the legendary Roy Jones Jr two years ago, is targeting the middleweight elite, including a mouthwatering world title shot against Gennady Golovkin. 

Benn, who campaigns at welterweight, two weight classes below that of Eubank Jr, is gunning for a domestic showdown of his own, however, taking to Twitter to outline his intentions after the fight. 

The 25-year-old wrote 'I fancy my chances at a catchweight', attached to a link of an article from The Sun, which quoted a tweet from Sky promoter duo Kalle and Nisse Sauerland stating they'd be open to arranging bout between the pair.   

The tweet, embedded in the article, read: 'You know somewhere, some special night in the not too distant future Eubank v Benn the next generation will happen. And we will be more than happy to make that happen.' 

The bout would be a British blockbuster in its own right, but it would also unearth a sense of nostalgia after Eubank Jr's father Chris fought Benn's dad Nigel on two occasions during the 1990s. 

It was Eubank snr who got the better of Nigel Benn in their first encounter for the WBO middleweight title, before the rematch three years later ended in a draw. 

The likelihood of the bout actually taking place is slim at best, however, with the two weight classes between them a significant obstacle.
