Connor Ronan signs for MLS' Colorado Rapids

Former Republic of Ireland Under-21 midfielder Connor Ronan has left Wolves to sign for Major League Soccer outfit Colorado Rapids.

The four-year deal announced on Monday for the 24-year-old English-born player includes a club option for 2027.

"Connor is a highly technical and versatile midfielder who can play in both deep-lying and box-to-box midfield roles," Rapids' Irish general manager Padraig Smith said.

"He brings a high level of energy and ability to cover a lot of ground defensively, but also exceptional vision and passing qualities. We're excited to add a player of his talent to our roster and look forward to welcoming him to Colorado."

Ronan, who was called up to Stephen Kenny's Ireland squad last March, spent the 2021-22 season on loan with St. Mirren of the Scottish Premiership, contributing eight goals and five assists in 30 appearances.

He joined Wolves as a 16-year-old in 2014 and made his Premier League debut aged 18 on 17 December 2016, whilst making one appearance for the club in this season's league campaign.

Ronan also spent time on loan with clubs in England - Portsmouth, Walsall and Blackpool as well as in Germany and Switzerland.
