Connor Goldson is 'quite happy' at Rangers amid ongoing contract talks

Connor Goldson is ‘quite happy’ at Rangers amid ongoing talks to extend his contract with the club, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Goldson’s current deal is set to expire in the summer, meaning he could depart Ibrox on a free transfer in a few months’ time if he doesn’t put pen to paper on fresh terms.

The 29-year-old joined the Gers from Brighton and Hove Albion in a £3 million deal back in June 2018, citing the prospect of playing under Steven Gerrard as a big factor in his decision to sign.

Since then, Goldson has established himself as a pivotal player for the Glasgow giants, racking up 200 appearances across all competitions and contributing 18 goals and seven assists along the way.

He helped to make history last term when he started every league game as Rangers romped to their first Scottish Premiership title in 10 years, ending fierce rivals Celtic’s monopoly over the top-flight.

When asked if they expect Goldson to leave, he told Sky Sports (via The Scotsman): “We are not resigned to that at all. Ross Wilson is having talks with all the players whose contracts expire in the summer.”

Goldson is currently one of several experienced stars who have entered the final five months of their contract with Rangers.
