‘Complete package’ – Aston Villa star backed to ‘make World Cup squad’

Aston Villa star Jacob Ramsey has been backed by Gabriel Agbonlahor to make Gareth Southgate’s England squad for this year’s World Cup.

The 20-year-old progressed through the ranks at Aston Villa. He has been a regular for them over the past two seasons.

Ramsey established himself last term but his performances have stepped up massively during the 2021/22 campaign.

The gulf between the Premier League and Championship is huge

The youngster has been one of the Premier League’s breakout stars this season as he has grabbed six league goals.

Last month, the Aston Villa starlet was endorsed to secure a big move to Arsenal.

Ramsey made his England U21s debut last year and Agbonlahor thinks he can earn a place at the World Cup:

“There’s no reason why he can’t still make the World Cup squad, Jacob,” Agbonlahor claimed (via Daily Mail).

“If he carries on the way he’s playing, he keeps the way he’s scoring goals and what he’s doing in games, if I was him I wouldn’t rule out that World Cup squad, injuries and players not performing.

“So he’s just got to keep doing what he’s doing in a Villa shirt.

“The amount he’s improved in the space of a year, he’s just gone to a different level. He will take players on from midfield, he will run with the ball, he will do the hard yards of defending – he will do it all as a midfielder.”

Joe Cole added: “He breaks the lines so well, he’s athletic. We watched him in the Leeds game here when he scored a brace, he was outstanding.
