Commonwealth Games viewing guide: Canadians to watch on Tuesday
After averaging three medals per day over the first three days of competition, Canadian athletes exploded for 12, including four golds, today at the Commonwealth Games in Scotland.
Coming off a stellar weekend, Canada's gymnasts led the way with another three individual golds and six medals overall today. Felix Dolci (men's rings) and 16-year-old Lia-Monica Fontaine (women's vault) each won gold for their third medal of the Games, while women's all-around champion Ellie Black took silver in the uneven bars for her third medal in Glasgow and the ninth of her Commonwealth Games career. Jordan Carroll won gold in the men's pommel horse, and René Cournoyer and William Émard earned silvers in the men's floor exercise and rings, respectively.
In track and field, reigning Olympic and world champion Ethan Katzberg dominated the men's hammer throw with a Games-record toss of 80.97 metres on his first attempt, beating the field by four metres to capture his first Commonwealth title. Fellow Canadian Rowan Hamilton, a Katzberg doppelgänger, took the bronze.
A pair of Canadian Para runners reached the podium as Michael Barber took silver in the men's 1,500m T20 category and Zachary Gingras earned his second consecutive Commonwealth bronze in the men's 100m T38.

Canada also picked up its first two medals in weightlifting as Ann-Sophie Taschereau snatched a silver in the women's 58-kilogram division and Rebeka Groulx got the bronze in the women's 53kg.
That brings Canada's total medal count for the Games to 21, including seven gold. The Canadian team is aiming for a top-three finish, and it currently
